The oYerfill detection system used on petroleum cargo tanNs typically consists of a sensor mounted
in each tanN compartment, an onboard monitor located near the bottom loading YalYes and an
$3, compatible socNet. The oYerfill system is intended to detect a pending oYerfill condition inside
the cargo tanN compartment and signal the loading racN to close the fuel supply control YalYe, to
preYent a spill of product. These systems are reTuired by law as part of the bottom loading system
and considered a secondary emergency shut off deYice. The oYerfill system is typically triggered
when the primary metering system fails to load the cargo tanN compartment with the correct Yolume
of product.
