Recommendations For Alternative Fuels
'
i[on has completed seYeral years of testing and engineering eYaluation to ensure our products are compatible with all
modern motor fuels in use today.
'
i[on uses a proprietary seal compound that we refer to by the trade name %aylast
.
Baylast
has been tested both in the
lab and field with e[cellent results. %aylast
was deYeloped so we could offer a single seal material compatible with the wide
range of alternatiYe fuels used today. 0any 'i[on %ayco products haYe been using %aylast
seals to ensure compatibility with
alternate fuels including ( (thanol, ( (thanol, % %io diesel, % %io diesel, 8ltra /ow 6ulfur 'iesel, and standard refined
gasoline and diesel products with e[cellent results. 2ur tests indicate that %aylast
performs well down to
-4
0
°
F
.
There are mechanical and temperature considerations that must be understood to determine which seal material is suitable for a
specific application. $ good e[ample is 3T)(, it has a Yery wide chemical compatibility range but is a poor seal material for
mechanical reasons. 8sing ).0 %, or ).0 *) is one solution to ensure compatibility, but ).0 has limitations regarding
mechanical suitability for seal applications with moYing Moints. 2ne critical and well Nnown limitation to ).0 is cold
temperature. ).0 will become hard at low temperatures and seals with moYing parts tend to weep liTuid.

of fuel.
