X1189 Mechanical Belt Fastener Advantages Repair mechanical belt splices in minutes, unlike vulcanized splices which can take hours or days. Easy Installation It's impossible to claim that vulcanization offers any advantage over mechanical fasteners in terms of easy installation. Mechanical fasteners can be installed on-site and typically only requires one installer with basic technical skills. Vulcanization is a long, involved process that often requires trained outside contractors who may have to do the job off-site. Quick Installation Depending on the belt width and fastener selected, a belt can respliced with a reliable belt fastener from Flexco in approximately 20 minutes. Vulcanization can take hours or even days. Quicker installation means less downtime and greater productivity. Economically Smart It is less expensive to install a mechanical belt splice than a vulcanized splice. Remove Belts Easily Hinge pins can be removed from mechanical splices, allowing the belt to be separated for easy cleaning, installation and removal. This advantage isn't offered by vulcanization. FlexFlexcoFlexcocococoFlexFlex ® Proactive Maintenance Because a mechanical splice is visible, any wear or deterioration is immediately apparent. Replacement or repairs can be scheduled during brief periods of downtime or at the end of a shift. A deteriorating vulcanized splice, in comparison, is not easily detected. Catastrophic line failure can be the first indication of trouble once adhesion breakdown occurs inside a vulcanized splice. Mechanical Fastener Systems from Flexco Flexco is undeniably the leader in mechanical belt fastener systems. Additional information regarding time-proven products such as Clipper® and Alligator® fastener systems can be found on the back of this brochure.
